The How-to: Watercolor for beginners (part 1/2)

New in here huh? Learn which basic materials you need to start watercoloring right away.

1. Choose your Watercolor PAINTS

Start with a watercolor pan since this are

-easy to use

-come with a palette and a brush so you dont need to buy anything extra.

2. Choose your Watercolor PAPER

Watercolor needs a special paper since normal drawing or office paper does not hold water properly due to its thickess.

Watercolor paper comes in different thickness and its indicated by its weight.Make sure you choose one over 220 gsm to have better results.

3. Choose your Watercolor BRUSHES

All you need are 3 types:

+ Flat brush

  • To define edges
  • Put water on paper

+ Round brush

  • Has a pointy tip
  • Make lines

+Thin Brush

  • For pointy lines
  • Details

Synthetic brushes are preferred since they are longlasting and dont shed hair on your work.

4. Jars

You can use an old pickles jar or even a mug

One is for dirty brushes.

the other is for clean water for painting.

It will ensure that the colors are bright, and not muddy.

5. Tissue Paper or cloth rag
