The How-to: Master 3 basic watercolor techniques

To be a successful watercolor artist, all you really need is 3 basic techniques.Whether you’re just a beginner or have been painting for a while, have fun trying these simple techniques.

1. Flat Wash

It is a simple, solid hue on dry paper.

The main thing is to make it look solid.

2. Layering

Cover area with one solid layer of watercolor paint.

After it is completely dry, add a layer of paint in another color.

It will create more depth and texture effects.

3. Wet on Wet

Cover the whole area in water first. Before the layer of watercolor is completely dry, get a lot of pigment on the brush and add it to the area.

Watch the paint spread across unexpectedly, creating very beautiful and diffused effects.

Start with the supplies that you currently have at home. Have fun inmersing yourself to the world of watercolor.
